Office 2000 reinstall

I had become infected with the Blaster worm. After
infection, Office would not load during startup. I
installed all the updates (Service pack 4 & Security patch)
and now when I try to reinstall Office 2000, I get the
following error message: "This patch package could not be
opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you
can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify
that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

I had the same problem and i reistalled Office.
Please try using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to "remove" Office
from your machine and reinstall again. The following article has all the

I used the utility, but my Norton Utilities was the only
program listed under the "Programs that used Windows
Installer." I went to uninstall Office2000 and disk 2 went
fine, but disk one did not work.

This was great info (I'm having the same frustrating problem); unfortunately
this utility only works with Window Installer versions that are less than
2.0. Since mine is 2.02, would you happen to know if there is an updated
utility I could use?
