Office 2000 SR-1a Update Error 1706

[llynfiboy]

trying to update my Office 2000 it gets so far and then
says that it can't find the necessary data1.msi file for
Word 2000 at a specified location on my harddrive. This
location doesn't exist.

I have data1.msi on my CD-ROM which I bought to upgrade
Works to Office 2000. This file is not accepted.

Any ideas please.

Try inserting the Works CD that came with your computer. This is what's
