Recently I installed SP1 on a win2k3 server, there is the backgroud of the
story:

The server is mainly used as an terminal server, people login to the server
to use Outlook and Word, the version is Office 2000, there are 20 office 2000
licencse and 15 ts license have been installed, everything is working well
prior to SP1.

After installation of SP1, the user can't use Word, Outlook and Excel, but
power point is still working, the symptom is: when the user click the Outlook
icon, the logo screen shows up, then the whole program disappear straight
away, same symptons applies on Work and Excel.

I logged to the server remotely as administrator, I can run all the programs
without any problem. I checked the event viewer, but it is clean, no error or
warning is reported.

After conduct a series of tests and failed attempts to repair, I had to roll
back SP1, after rolling back, everything back to work.

Can anyone suggest any ideas how to solove this?
any help is highly appreciated.

You actually have a non-Office problem, rather a problem with the
configuration of SP-1 for Windows Server 2003.

You may have better luck in a group that supports Windows Server 2003.

Why don't they just drop that smelly thing and get on with it? It provides
little help and a lot of headaches.

thanks! I check the system, the system did use norton as their AV, but I
can't get it confirmed from Norton that it is the source of problem, do u
know any web site can confirm that so I can proceed further?

thank you very much, any help is appreciated.

For another opinion as per your issue I am including the W2K3 group as a link below. I am sure that they will concur on this. There was a couple of similar or should I say same posts there lately but they involved Office 2003

but I can't get it confirmed from Norton that it is the source of problem,

And you think Norton will admit to it. They do not even admit to their numerous error causing issues for most email clients
