Office 2003 & 2007 continually configure and set-up.

I installed Office Enterprise on Vista Home Premium OS in addition to
previous Office Pro 2003. Now when switching between applications, they
always have to "configure office" or set-up files. How can I resolve this? I
have already run diagnostics with no success.

OFFICE 2007.

1. open registry editor.
2. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
3. Expand SOFTWARE.
4. Expand MICROSOFT.
5. Expand OFFICE.
6. Expand 12.0
7. Expand WORD.
8. You will find a key/folder called "options"
9. Right click the options folder and point to new and select "DWORD VALUE"
10. On the right hand side, type "norereg" and press enter.
11. Double click "norereg" and change the value data to "1" and click ok or
enter.

OFFICE 2003.

Now try opening Microsoft word.

That information was indispensable to me. Thank you for answering so quickly.
Both versions of Word now open flawlessly. Thank you.

That's great. Now can you tell me how to find the registry editor in Word 2007?
Thanks.

It's not part of Word, it's part of Windows.

Start | Run | type "REGEDIT" (no quote marks) into the box that appears, then
click OK.

If using Vista, substitute "That big round thing at the lower left of your
screen" for "Start" above.

Understand that messing about with the registry is a bit like poking things into
Windows' brains. You can improve things or mess them up very badly.

It's smart to back up the registry before you start and if you don't really
understand what you're doing, it's probably better to find a helper who does.

Vinod,

Absolutely brilliant - just had the same problem with Office 2010 an
follow the instructions to find instead of expand 12 it is expand 14.
Worked like a treat.

Many thanks

John
