Office 2003 and Office xp

Office XP small business came with my gateway. I subsequently purchased
Office 2003 Teacher and Student version. When I installed that product, I
seem to have lost Publisher, which is not include in the 2003 product. When I
tried to install just Publisher from my XP cd, I had all manner of problems
with Outlook. Is there a way to keep the XP version of Publisher as well as
the 2003 versions of the rest of the Office family of products?

Download the cleanup utility, use it on the Small Business applications. You will
have to re-install them if you want to continue to use them. Create a separate folder
to install Publisher.

Thanks for the response, but I'm a pretty low tech user and I don't
understand it. I already removed Office XP. Should I reinstall it? How do I
do that without wreaking havoc again?

thanks

What she means is go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 download the
windows installer cleanup utility and run it. Reinstall Office XP. Choose
Custom installation and only install Publisher. Then install Office 2003 and
choose Custom install and make sure the check mark is removed from unistall
all other office applications.

The cleanup utility will remove the installer information associated with your
applications. Even though you have uninstalled Office XP, there will be installer
information left behind. Once this is cleaned up you shouldn't have any more problems
installing Publisher.

Should I uninstall Office 2003 before I run the clean up and reinstall office
XP--publisher only?

You don't have to uninstall Office 2003 to use the utility. You are only cleaning up
XP installer information. The utility has check offs. Just remember to create a
folder for the 2002 Publisher application installation.

Thanks. I did it and it solved the problem. I'm not sure, however, how to
create a folder for Publisher. I just installed it per the installer dialogue
box. Was I supposed to "file" it somewhere?
