Office 2003: detect and repair did not complete

N

Nigel Molesworth

I've recently rebuilt my PC (new motherboard, CPU, HD etc). Now I'm
having a problem with Office 2003: Word, Excel and Outlook work fine
(after re-activation), but Access 2003 doesn't.

I've run Detect and Repair from the CD, but I get an error saying
"Microsoft Office Setup did not complete successfully ...". I've also
tried the reinstall option, same result.

Where do I go from here? I'm concerned that an uninstall and reinstall
will loose my emails and customisations etc.

Is that the full err msg?
You could try modifying the installation to remove Access only, then reboot
and reinstall Access
PS. Presumably after your rebuild you repaired the Win installation?

It goes on to apologise etc

I'll give that a try, thanks.

Yes. Then copied to a new HD with Acronis True Image (great program).

Didn't work :(

Can I manually remove Access?

Is there a way to preserve my customisation? Most stuff is saved in
Normal.DOT, but I think that toolbar options etc are stored elsewhere.
