Microsoft Document Imaging View fails

I open Microsoft Document Imaging and scan new document. It scans but does
not show the scan in the viewing window. It used to work fine.

I have uninstalled office, removed references to Document imaging and
scanning from registry and re-installed office to no avail.

The HP 3970 scanner works fine and shows scans in HP software.

The scan window in Doc. imaging is marked to view and ask for multiple pages.

What am I missing?
