Me
I’m attempting to link data from various Office files into an Word file via
Intranet sites.
If the Office files are saved as Read Only, people can see it as Read Only
on the Intranet, but if they go to the file directly via Windows Explorer,
they can change the data.
If the Office files are password protected, they can change the file without
a password on the Intranet, but if they go to the file directly via Windows
Explorer, they need the password.
Also, if the Office files are set as Read Only and with a password, using a
password allows the file to be changed; Read Only is over written.
This happens with linked Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, and is not
machine or customer specific; it happens to everyone. This is a new process
for us, so this all may be normal functionality, but I want to verify that.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.
