Office 2003 - Home Use, can't install

D

db

During installation, the program declares that it cannot
find "P2561407.CAB" and prompts me to provide the disk or
path where this file exists. I browse down to the
location where this file exists on the Office 2003 CD and
click ok, but I get the same message. The installation
will not go any further. Is this a case of a damaged
media a bad disc image? I've noticed that others have had
this problem, but there don't appear to be any good
answers.

Yes, this sounds like a problem with the media. Can you copy the .CAB off
the disk to your desktop and successfully use it from there?

Nope. Tried it. It stops copying the files as soon as it
gets to the offending file. And I'm pretty sure that jazz
about the logfile that they have in that knowledge base
article won't work either. Seems to me like a case of
cheap media and a hosed disk image that wasn't quality
checked before being shipped. I doubt MS would own up to
it and send me a new, WORKING disk, though.
