Office 2003 instalation timing

My question is, what is the best practice for timing the upgrade of Office
from XP to version 2003?

We are planning an Exchange upgrade to 2003 and an installation of Live
Communication Server.

If Office 2003, including Outlook are installed before Exchange, what issues
will need to be addressed after the Exchange deployment?
