Office 2003 installed, then hangs after XP upgrade

I have a computer which has had an upgrade from Win98 to WinXP. After
the upgrade I installed Office 2003. When opening a document, it takes
20 minutes for the file to appear.

What's going on here!!??!?!!?!

I hope there's a fix for this...
