Office 2003 Locks Up

We are experiencing a weird issue with Office 2003. When
we open a file either by double clicking on it or going
through File/Open the Office document locks up. This is
true in Excel, Word and PowerPoint (haven't tried
Access). If we open task manager the document immediately
unlocks and opens, and we have no problems until the next
time a document is opened.

The machine is a P2.53, 512mb, Win2K SP4, Office 2003.

I hope someone can help, because this in my bosses machine
and he wont let me re-image him...

If on a network accessing Win 2K Server or 2003, ensure
DNS\Active Directory is working properly since this can
have this affect.

Also ensure it's not virus checker related. Virus checkers
can play merry hell when opening, closing and saving
Office documents.

Have you also run Windows Update and Office Update to
ensure you've got all the patches under the sun installed?
