Office 2003 on a removable drive

John Gregory

Is there a way to install MS Office 2003 on a removable USB hard drive?

I use several computers, but some do not have all of the MS office files
installed, or are coustomized to an undesireable configuration.

I would like to have my own installation, with my own files, such that I can
go to any computer and use them. By the way, all of the computers I use have
Windows XP.

what matters are the registry entires...you can't carry a big .reg file with
all your Office settings because it contains machine-specific and activation
data also

Thank you for your response, I guess I will have to try something else.

By the way, is there an easy list of registry entries? Pehaps I could
import the correct keys, and delete them when I am finished.

An "easy" list? No, since the entries are all machine specific and would need to be on the machine with conflicting registry entries.

Many folks have pester MS about this (especially the U3 drive folks) but they consistently fail to understand that Office is not a portable program.

I am not advocating switching apps - but I use USB version of Open Office -
that runs great and you can read and write to office up to office 2004
