Office 2003 Pro install

I purchased Office 2003 Professional Upgrade and installed it, all seems to
be working fine. My question is that why during the 2003 install, did it
request my Office 2000 Disk 2, and why do the office 2000 applications still
appear as installed when I look in Systems Information? I had read that
installing the Office Upgrade was the same a doing a clean install of Office,
with the Office installer removing older version at the end of the
installation process.? The question is really relative to not having any more
"stuff" consuming disk space than necesary. Thanks. RJN

Office 2003 upgrade will only upgrade the same versions that it found in
previous Office installations. So, if you had FrontPage 2000 and/or
Publisher 2000, Office would not uninstall them since Office 2003 does not
include those packages. Likewise with any other Office 2000 version that is
not included in Office 2003.

rjn02,
Check under add/remove programs to see if you still have any Office 2000
applications, if so, and you do not use them> remove if you need the disk
space.
As well, when you update Office you may be offered choices for 2000 if you
keep any 2000 applications, deselect if not wanted.

This makes sense. To frame the question a little differently however; Office
2003 Profession Upgrade has all of the applications (Word, Excel, Outlook,
Powerpoint, Access, and Publisher) that I had on my system. Originally I had
Office 2000 Small Business, and had added Upgrade versions of Powerpoint and
Access, so I was a little surprised during the Office 2003 Pro install, that
it asked for disk 2 of the Office 2000 (Small Business version).? To take
this question a step further, If I have to reinstall Office 2003 (which I may
because a bad driver install seems to have goofed up my Outlook), can I do a
"clean install off of the Office 2003 disks, or do I have to install Office
2000 first? Thanks again. RJN

As Milly posted, Publisher is not included in Office 2003 Professional.

Before you reinstall Office, try opening a Office 2003 application. Go to
Help and run Detect and Repair.

If you must reinstall, you do not need to first install Office 2000 SBE.
Just have the Office 2000 CD available to insert in your drive when asked
for a qualifying product.
