office 2003 professional tool bar

Why was the shortcut toolbar that was available in previous office versions
dropped for office 2003? The shortcut toolbar is useful not only for office
2003 but also for qucik access to frequently used programs. I do not see any
toolbars in windows xp, however based on a message posted on this topic,
there is supposedly a toolbar in XP. Where can I find this? When I want to
use a frequently accessed program, I have to go find it in the start menu. I
could simply create shortcuts for the frequently accessed programs, but then
the desktop is cluttered with shortcuts. Please consider adding the shortcut
toolbar in an update to Office 2003.

It will not be added back as Windows 2000 and Windows XP already have
toolbar functions available within the OS. Right click on your taskbar,
select toolbars. Create one for Office. Create your Office shortcuts there.

In XP the MS Quick Launch Bar does the same thing as the Office Tool Bar did. That is why MS decided to discontinue the Office TB. In XP to activate the QLB, right click on Task Bar and select Toolbars and check on Quick Launch Bar. Drag and drop all links to this area on your test bar to setup favorite programs.

Hope this helps.

I had hoped to be able to create a toolbar with just word, excel, access,
power point, and outlook on it. I went to program files/microsoft office and
created a toolbar from there. That toolbar had all kinds of files on it. I
guess for now I will have to just start the programs from start menu

You can add only the .exe files for the Office applications from that
folder.
