Office 2003 setup crash

Rick P.

I am installing the complimentary copy from the MS Office Launch Event of Office 2003 Pro, media part number X10-01097.

Setup starts and the CD spins up, I get an error saying that the setup.ini file canot be found on the CD. At the same time, the CD-ROM drive is stopped with the error stating that the drive was removed without first stopping it properly. Subsequently, the CD drive letter is not available and I have to restart Windows 2000.

Same results with autorun and going directly to setup.exe.

Is this bad media ?

Have you cleaned it and done a visual inspection to ensure it is not
scratched or otherwise damaged?
