Office 2003 SP1 will not install

Robert Angell

I am trying to install Office 2003 SP1. I downloaded the
full network installation file (75Mb). When I run this,
it extracts the files required, then just seems to hang.
Today I applied Windows XP SP2 with good results. I have
since tried to install Office 2003 SP1 again, and am now
getting futher than the files extraction. Except it now
gives the following error:

"Error 1407. Setup cannot get the value names for the
registry key Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
\MSE\Editors\{CFF630F8-2DB3-44ba-9FC9-6489665DE5B8}
\Extensions. Verify that you have sufficient permissions
to access the registry or contact your IT department for
assistance".

There is also an MSIInstaller error in the event log -
Event 1015 - Failed to connect to server. Error:
0x800401F0,
Followed by event 11407 then 11729. Each of which have a
different description.
Any assistance on this would be much appreciated.

I am using Windows XP Professional with SP2 and Office
2003 Enterprise.

Thanks

Robert, if you'll put the SP1 log files into a Zip file, I'll look at them.
