Office 2003 Tech Refresh Download Problem

Gordon Staley

I just installed Office 2003 Beta 2. As part of the install, IE was
launched and I was taken to Beta update site (nice touch):
http://officebeta.microsoft.com/officeupdate/; once there, I clicked on the
Check for Critical Updates link.

It said, "Your Office products require the critical updates listed below."
I clicked on the Start Installation button, checked the box to accept terms
of the license agreement and clicked on the Next button that was now active.
After a lengthy delay I got the following error message:
Network Error

Unable to read URL from host
officebeta.microsoft.com: Connect
reset by peer

I tried this about four times with the same result every time. All my other
network traffic is working just fine. Any ideas of how to proceed.

Thanks,
Gordon Staley

Hi Gordon,

Hmmm. It could be an issue in the beta itself.
Do you get the same result if you go directly to
http://officebeta.microsoft.com/officeupdate/mainCatalog.aspx?CTT=98

What version of Windows are you running (including service packs)?

Are you running any download accelerators, firewall or
antivirus software when checking for updates?

From your address you're on a cable modem connection?
