Office 2003 to Office 2007 upgrade?

T

tfg

I bought a new laptop in August. My Office 2003 version just expired. I was
about to buy it when I saw that Office 2007 is coming out.

When will Office 2007 be released?

If I buy Office 2003 now (for $149) can I upgrade to Office 2007?

Suggestions on what I should do are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

One cannot upgrade from a trial version of Office 2003
to Office 2007. You would need to purchase a "full version"
of Office 2007 and install it after uninstalling the Office 2003
trial version. However, you can upgrade a conventional version
of Office 2003 to Office 2007 by purchasing the "Upgrade Version"
of Office 2007.

The $149 Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 would not
qualify for the "Upgrade Version" of Office 2007 since it's license
does not permit upgrading to a newer version of Office.

Hi Carey,

Actually, the Student and Teacher's Edition of Office XP or Office 2003 is an upgrade qualifier for 2007 Office editions.

There isn't an upgrade package *of* the 2003 Student and Teacher's Edition or the 2007 Office Student & Home editions as they're
already priced at or near an upgrade edition price.

Okay, so if I purchase the Office 2003 for $149 how much will the upgrade be
for the Office 2007?

Again, when will Office 2007 be released?

Thanks for all your help, so far!!

Hi tfg,

The MS suggested U.S. retail prices for the 2007 Office system new and upgrade packages are listed here.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101754511033.aspx

The price for an an upgrade will depend on the edition you select as well as the vendor you choose for you purchase of 2007 Office
products *and* when you purchase your Office 2003 product. For example if you purchase an Office 2003 retail edition after
25Oct2006 then you may qualify for the Technology Guarantee to 2007 Office system at the price and under the conditions listed here,
by country:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/techguarantee/worldwide.mspx
((There is also a link there to the Windows XP to Vista Technology guarantee))

The trial versions of 2007 Office System products should start being available at the beginning of November 2006. The retail 2007
Office products should be on the shelf beginning in January 2007.
Okay, so if I purchase the Office 2003 for $149 how much will the upgrade be
for the Office 2007?

Again, when will Office 2007 be released?

Thanks for all your help, so far!!>>
