Office 2003 trial Exchange send operation failed

I tried Office 2003 trial, hit the 60 day wall before company bought
licenses. I reinstalled Office XP after uninstalling 2003, only to find that
I can't use send/receive on Exchange. I simply get the dialog box: Operation
failed. Not one word more.

I've tried reinstalling, I've tried repairing, I've tried using a backup
made of the .pst before uninstalling 2003.

Any guesses?? I'm dying here...
