Office 2003 update from "administrative point"

P

Pappap Bill

I have loaded Office Professional 2003 on my personal XP computer from a CD.
When I check for updates I get the following message:

"NOTE: Detection shows that Office products on your computer have been
updated by your Office product administrator from the administrative
installation point on a server. This means that you should not update Office
products yourself. If you are an Office product administrator, please visit
the Office Resource Kit for more information. "

How can I get past this?

Hi, Pappap Bill,

Did you have a previous version of Office installed? Check in the Windows
Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet to see if you have a previous or
different version of Office also installed (perhaps pre-installed by the
original equipment manufacturer?). If there is a previous one installed,
and you're not using it, uninstall it and the message may go away.

I have encountered the same problem with office 2000. There are no previous
or different versions of office installed. I have deinstalled ofice and
reinstalled it from my CD. I still get the problem. How can I bypass this

Help, I am having the same problem.... Is there a way to re-program so I dont
have administrator version, I never installed it that way?

I have the same problem I installed a brand new OEM Office Pro 2003 on a
Brand New Windows XP Pro computer. Does anyone know what needs to be done to
fix this so it acts as a regular install?

Thanks,

Cliff J.

Well, you can add me to the list. Very frustrating ... the information on
how to fix this must be out there somewhere!
