office 2003 w/office xp toolbar - lag time problems

Hi...I have Office 2003 running on a Win XP machine and have installed the
Office XP toolbar (as 2003 doesn't have it)...the first time a program is
chosen from the toolbar, it takes 14-15 seconds for the program to be called.
After the first program all of the other programs lauch with no lag. I've
tried to uninstall/reinstall (including removing registry entries)...all to
no avail. Is there any avoiding the lag time on first program launch?
