I've read through the discussions and it seems like many people are having
this issue but I have yet to read a thread where a resolution was presented.
We are making a new desktop image for our organization using Windows XP SP2
Professional with Office 2003. We added Office 2003 to the image using a
transform file that configures the e-mail profile with Word as the default
editoras well as a .OPS file to configure Office application settings.
NOUSERNAME=True was also used to prompt the user to enter their name the
first time they load an application.
When you open Outlook for the first time, you first get an Install Forms
error but if you click OK Outlook will still open. As soon as you try to
reply or create a new e-mail address you get the following error:
"Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is
unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as outlook. The
Outlook e-mail editor will be usded instead. An OLE registration error
occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run Setup again for the
program."
We've placed this new image on several machines and it seems if you open
Word before you open Outlook, you don't get this issue. However, once you
Open Outlook and get this error, closing Outlook and then opening Word wont'
correct it.
Any suggestions?
