Word 2004 (Mac)

My Word application doesn't recognise UK English spelling (it is stuck
on US English spelling).

I have set the following under Preferences:
Spelling and Grammar - Custom Dictionary - I clicked on Dictionaries
and chose language English (UK) & click OK.
The result of doing this that under the Spelling and Grammar pane it
just lists Customer Dictionary with the words 'Custom Dictionary'
selected in the pull-down menu.

Yet Word insists on US and not UK spelling throughout every document.

How can I set it to UK English spelling?

PS. I have also made sure that Normal Style has a language preference
of UK English spelling. Yet still the document is checked with US not
UK spelling.

I've fixed the problem, though it wasn't as I expected.

The fix is described at
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050204083233639

The key thing that fixed it for me was in OS X's Preferences:
"In the International panel in System Preferences, select British
English (or equivalent) under each tab.
Under the Language tab, click on Edit, then scroll down to 'British
English' and place a tick in the appropriate box. Click 'OK'.
Now move 'British English' to the second location in the main list (I
think actually selecting it as a supported language may suffice)."

Hope this helps those that are interested :)
