Office 2004: why won't a Word document go past page 1 in any view

Janet

I can keep working past page one in Normal only but the page number never
changes from page 1. As well, I can't print past page 1 except by Selection,
and can't send more than the first page of a document in an e-mail. It's also
sluggish when I edit.

Go to Format | Columns, click the box for One, make sure it applies to the
entire document, then OK.

Thanks Anne.

I should have mentioned that I'm using MacMini, OS X 10. This URL seems to
be for Windows as I have no "normal.dot" on my hardrive.

Thanks Suzanne.

Columns is grey as I'm not using it. And I should have said that I'm using a
MacMini, OS X 10.

You should be able to access Format | Columns in any document, as this is
the best way to select more than one column. If this command is
inaccessible, then the likelihood is that the insertion point is in a text
box, frame, or table cell (or footnote), which would explain why your text
will not exceed one page.

Janet, you don't have Normal.dot on your harddrive, but you do have "Normal"
a template that is the same.

Use the instructions here to regenerate it for a Mac, as Suzanne is probably
right that you have gotten a textbox set as your Normal template:
http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/MacWordNormal.htm
(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

And you should be aware that there are Mac-specific newsgroups:
See here for Google/Entourage gateway to Mac-specific ngs:

I found a Style--Standard--(I was using Normal) in which the page advances.
Haven't tried to print or e-mail but I'm sure this will solve those problems
too.

Curious thing that Normal has all the attributes of my old Office which
worked just fine.

Thanks for all your help.
