Trying to install "Office 2004 11.5.0 Update" but get the following error:

"The installer could not locate the correct version of the software required to install this update. See the Read Me file included with this installer to determine if your software meets the requirements for this update."

The Read Me don't say boo...

Searched around for why, but didn't find anything...

Are you sure you have the correct updater? We have not seen this problem for
Office 2004 users.

See this page for solutions on installing. (they are specific for 2008, but
the same fix might work for you)

Have you moved Office from the root Applications folder?

Diane:

Thanks for the quick response and the suggestions, which ultimately worked. I wound up having to delete Office from my machine, install it on a different drive (moving it out of the App folder wasn't enough...), and then run the updater.

I am getting the same message as the OP.
In addition I cannot find sync services to turn them on. It does not appear in the location indicated by your help docs. I am on the student teacher version

Always start your own thread!

What has Sync Services got to do with installing? This thread is about
Office 2004 install problems for the original user.
