Office 2007 aps keep reconfiguring when opened

A couple of days ago my Office aps started going grazy. The first issue was
that whenever I tried to save any kind of document, applications would
immediatedly crash. Secondly, when starting an Office application, the
configuration window would open, run through the routine and then a new
window would open telling me, that Office 2007 is being installed.

Could somebody please provide the solution for this extremely annoying
problem, thanks in advance.

Last evening, I picked up a Computer Club member's computer using Windows XP
Home with all updates installed that was experiencing similar symptons, plus
Outlook Express complained when an update was being installed that the
wab32.dll file was missing and Office 2003 Student & Teachers repeated
wanted to install but was missing ODBC data source. "Verify that the MS
Access Database exists..." It's not in the product!

Solution:
1. Downloaded and installed the Free AVG Anti-virus. It remove 4 trojans.
2. I checked and Norton Internet Security was current. When I uninstalled
Norton, it complained that 132 days were left on the subscription.
3. Outlook Express updates now applied with no problem.
4. Office still a problem. Uninstalled it. Rebooted and installed again. It
still complained about the missing ODBC. 5. However, the repeated
configuration routine is gone. I then went to Office update and installed
all updates.

Whether this works for you, I have no idea.
