Office 2007 b2 techincal refresh requires previous beta. Where to get?

P

Paul_B

I've got the 2007 b2 technical refresh, but it won't install
without a previous beta version. Is there anywhere I can get that
previous version, please? I believe MS has taken it down from
their site.

Thanks,

The Office 2007 beta is no longer available.
It is obsolete because Office 2007 has been
finalized and will ship shortly.

Hi Paul,

To add to Carey's reply. Trial versions of the final 2007 Office system products will be available at the start of December from
http://office.microsoft.com

The Beta 2 Technical Refresh was a patch update, rather than a separate version.

I see. Then there's no way to test drive the program before
shelling out a rather sizable lump of cash. Unfortunate.

Thanks,

Sure there is - Bob just told you. Wait for a trial edition available in a week.

I continue to see no mention of a trial edition in Bob's
comments, but thanks for the information.

Hi Paul,

The Office 2007 Beta2 online test drive is still available
at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101687261033.aspx

The test drive should be updated to the release version prior to the Office 2007 product being in retail stores.

Thanks, Bob. I have used that online version, but my last two
attempts have only brought initialization errors. I had hoped to
actually try the program installed locally for a while before
possibly migrating over.

Hi Paul,

The MS official launch events start at the end of November (they've been doing 'advance and sneak preview' tours for about a year
<g>) and the trial version downloads for the 2007 Office system should be available for download and ordering around 01Dec06.

I don't know if MS plans to have trial edition CDs at any of the launch events (they may not be ready yet) but you may want to see
about signing up for one in your area just in case :)

Thanks for that information, Bob. If I understand you correctly,
there will be a trial period for the software before one is
compelled to buy. That would be perfect in my case, because I
want to try the software out (the last version of Word I've used
is '97, and I would need to decide whether to get just Word or
the whole package. And to Dec 1 isn't very long to wait.
