Office 2007 Beta 2 install

D

Devin

Near the end of the install I get a message that says I need to shut down the
following programs for the installation to continue. And then there is justa
blank space, no programs listed. I've killed every possible process on my
machine and tried both retry and ignore, but nothing works. Is there anything
that I can do? Does the setup keep a log somewhere that I can look at to try
and figure this out?

Thanks

Hi Deve,

My understanding on this one, a blank list of running programs to be shut down during 2007 Office system Beta 2 setup, is that it's
an issue with the installer being able to read the name of some processes with hooks in memory during the installation process.

You should be okay if you choose the [Ignore] choice and then doing a restart after completing the Office 2007 system Beta 2 install
to clear the issue.

Antivirus programs and basically most running programs should be shut down anytime before starting any Office product install (and
you should backup your data/files prior to starting the install in any scenario).

Thanks Bob

For me, ignore would just roll back the install and I was running it with
every process shut down that task manager would let me kill. I eventually got
it to install, but not through any specific action or inaction that I can put
my finger on...it just suddenly worked (after the fourth attempt).

It's been running beautifully ever since.

Hi Devin,

Hmmmm. Glad to hear it's working :)

Rolled back when you chose ignore? Hmmm, interesting to find out which item it thought needed shutting down but couldn't show <g>.

Could you use Start=>Run and type
%temp% {enter key}
to look for the 2007-Office log files and zip and send me a set of them by email.
Thanks Bob
