Office 2007 Beta install question

Bill

Downloaded the above but before installing some advice please.

Can I install it on an external hard drive so it will not interfere with my
current Office XP pro?

Really don't want any conflicts or headaches.

Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill,

Sort of :) MS Office has always placed parts of itself in the Windows folder and in the \Program Files\Common Files area and 2007
is no exception to that rule.

It is beta software and there's no guarantee you won't see it conflict with something, sometime, somewhere :) which can, of course,
lead to a headache.

Keep in mind that you can only have one version of Outlook installed and running.

Thanks for that Bob. Maybe best if I stay away then...getting too old for
reformats etc :)

If you have access to Virtual PC or software along those lines, you could
install it on a virtual machine. That's how I've been running the betas, and
it's made testing a lot easier.

I have 2 PC's with Office 2003.

If I install Outlook 2007 with BCM on one PC only, will I be able to
copy my data, i.e. my .PST files back & forth between the PC's so I
can use Outlook 2007 with BCM in a "home office" production
environment, with the fallback that if I have problems getting my mail
or whatever, I can copy the updated .PST back to my other PC with the
Office 2003 install to stay out of trouble?

Pardon my ignorance but I do have MS Virtual PC and am trying to figure out
how to install Office 2007. When I start the install routine I am brought to
the update screen because it is finding Office 2003.

How do I force an install on the Virtual PC?

You may want to ask in the virtual pc groups, but basically, assuming you
don't have Office 2003 installed on the virtual pc, you should be able to
copy the Office 2007 EXE file you downloaded to the virtual PC's desktop
(you'll have to have a shared folder to do that), and then double-click and
install from there. That's what I did, and it went just fine.

Here's an alpha list of groups available from the MS web interface.
