Office 2007 beta technical refresh

E

EricS

When will the TR be available? Since Vista RC1 claims you need TR, it would
have been nice for them to be released together.

This is a peer to peer newsgroup for office issues. You would likely get
valid responses from the beta testers group.

No, Vista RC-1 does not require the Beta 2 Tech Refresh _unless_ you
upgraded your Windows to Vista RC-1.

I did a clean install of both and they are running just fine.

It would be nice, yes, but the general idea seems to be mid- to
late-September judging from various less-than-official sites I've seen thus
far. The same sites also seem to suggest that it'll be readily available to
those not officially testing for MS, but that also remains to be seen.

Actually, "Whenever they are ready to release it" is all even the
official beta testers know for sure right now.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

The other answer is "soon". There is no known ETA. All three previous
Office 2007 betas were only announced with "soon" until the day they
were released. I doubt B2TR will be any different. Wait till it's
announced that it has been released.

If you are using Vista RC1 and Expression Web Designer Beta 1 then Office
2007 Beta 2 won't install or if you install Office 2007 Beta 2 first then
the EWD Beta 1 won't install. EWD Beta 1 and Office 2007 Beta 2 are mutually
exclusive in Vista RC1. The Technical Refresh will hopefully fix this.

Great to hear that Patrick, by the way, my name is Derric from Malaysia. I've
check Microsoft website today, not able to see anything related to MS Office
2007 Beta 2TR. Any idea where and how to download and install it?

Regards,
Derric

Note that the technical refresh is a patch for Beta 2. So you need to
have Beta 2 installed first, before you can apply the B2TR patch.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks. Just a quick 1, correct me if i'm wrong...

1. I have to install Office 2007 Beta 2 first follow-by installing TR for
Office 07 Beta 2

2. I assume the installation process remain the same for Project 2007 Beta 2
and Visio 2007 Beta 2 which i have to install Project 2007 Beta 2 and Visio
2007 Beta 2 follow-by TR for both.

3. Is is necessary to install Windows Sharepoint Services Technical Refresh?

4. I notice there were many other Technical Refresh released by Microsoft as
well, please let me know other compulsary TR beside Office 2007 Beta 2 TR.

Thank you.

Regards,
Derric

You need to install B2TR builds for all Office Beta 2 products you have
installed.
1. Yes
2. Yes, but you need to install the beta 2 versions before you install
any B2TR patch. Note that Project and Visio have B2TR patches separate
from the main Office 2007 B2TR patch. This means you need to install
those three patches only after you installed all B2 applications.
3. On your server? I think it is a very good idea to do that. I don't
know much about server programs of Office 2007 though.
4. If you have other languages besides the main one (presumably English)
installed, then you need the B2TR patch for those languages as well.
