Office 2007 Beta

Hi, against all the advice given in this forum I installed the above
product. When I checked Add?Remove Programs I could not see it so decided to
do a restore and get out.

This has lead to none of my original Office 2003 or Windows Installer
working.

I'm currently working to fix it so I might be back for some advice.

I just thought I'd let you folks know my experience.

I'd like to pass on my experience with the Office 2007 Beta 2:

I "upgraded" my Office 2003 to Office 2007 this morning on an XP Sp2 box,
found I couldn't activate 2007 and had Outlook 2007 crash multiple times
within a couple minutes, and decided to uninstall. The 2007 uninstall went
without a hitch, but then:

1. I found I couldn't reinstall Office 2003 - setup.exe gave me an error
about not being able to find the patch file, or the patch file being
invalid.
2. Office 2003 was still shown as installed in Control Panel/Add/Remove,
even though I had chosen to "upgrade" to the 2007 Beta.
3. I was unable to either uninstall Office 2003, or repair the installation,
using the Control Panel applet. I got the same error: not able to find the
patch file, or the patch file being invalid as I got when trying to
reinstall Office 2003 using setup.exe off DVD.
4. I tried System Restore to an install point before the 2007 installation.
This did not enable reinstalling Office 2003.
5. I restored my System State from a backup. This did not enable
reinstalling Office 2003.
6. I deleted the Program Files\Office tree, and then restored the tree from
a backup. Office 2003 is now working again.
