office 2007 beta

A

Andrew Watt [MVP]

I have office 20003 installed on my box. I wish to preview next version
2007. Can I install side by side 2007, keeping 2003....

thanks

If you have the option to install Office 2007 Beta 2 on a test machine
I think that would be preferable.

I know that some people have Beta 2 running alongside Office 2003 but
there is always some risk involved. Of course, you won't be able to
run two versions of Outlook on one machine.

I haven't installed side by side yet, personally, but will probably do
so fairly soon, assuming that Beta 2 looks really stable during
initial testing on a test machine.

Is it possible to run Outlook 2003 and 2007 Beta 2 on the same computer
provided I don't run them simultaneously? Or does Outlook 2007 mess up the
outlook 2003 data files?

No, you can never run 2 versions of Outlook, no matter what version, on the
same OS partition. You can run them on separate Operating System partitions
without problems and share data as long as the file formats are the same,
however.
