Office 2007 crashes on startup.

Tom Zappa

Outlook 2007 is crashing everytime time I open it. After about 15 seconds
all options grey out and a message box appears saying "Microsoft Outlook has
stopped working." (Even when running the app in safe mode). Initially it
was I upgraded from 2003 however I have since completely removed office and
reinstalled it from scratch.

I backed up and deleted the PST, and created a new one. This resolved the
problem however I need that PST. Next step was running a scanpst and then
"importing" the emails back into outlook. This caused it to start crashing
again.

As far as I can tell, I not running any plugins except for the ones that
came with the package. Does any have any ideas?

TIA

A new mail profile after upgrading from a prior version seems to be the answer to most problems in Outlook. Control Panel->Mail Icon->Profiles->Add. Do not copy the old profile. Configure the new one to use your current .pst file.

It was a good idea but unfortunately I had the same results after importing
the PST. Still scratching my head furiously :) I'd try downgrading back to
2003 but I'm not sure if the 2007 scanpst would have made the data file
incompatible or not. ..... guess I'll find out.

NEVER import a .pst file -simply use File->Open->Outlook DAta File. Importing causes no end of problems.

Ive Found a cure for this problem!!

I found that by following a COMBINATION of :

1. removing the outcmd.dat as explained in this thread.
2. removing my kaspersky spam checking add-ons from outlook options
3. removing xobni software from outlook and my pc.

By doing this, i found that the problem id had with outlook 2007
crashing upon startup has been resolved.

Good luck with yours - hope this works for you.

Ross
