Office 2007 - Ctrl-F Forward in Outlook

B

Blackthorne

In Office 2003, if you had an email open and hit Ctrl-F/Forward, it would
create an exact copy of the email, including all formating, attachments, etc.
This is something we use often to send internal email to a large group,
breaking the distro into chunks of 100 or less.

In Office 2007, it says that Ctrl-F is Forward, but it brings up the Find
feature instead. How do we get it to create the duplicate copies of the
email instead?

It works correctly here, on both opened items and selected items in the
message list.

Do you have the most recent updates installed?

I can get it to pull up the Find dialog, but only if I'm in a Compose window,
which I'm going to bet the OP is doing.

IOW, he composes a message, puts the 100 users on the To line and then hits
Control-F so that he can Forward that exact message to the next 100 users.

Personally, I think the initial need is broken. Why isn't the large group
defined as a distribution list on the server so that you can simply put one
address on the message and have it delivered to all users?

I understand exactly what Blackthorne is asking for; I too am interested in
knowing if this feature exists in Outlook 2003.

If someone from MS Support would be kind enough to address this and reply,
it would be sincerely appreciated.

What happens when you hit Ctrl+F? Try putting the cursor in the header area
(to, cc, from) if the message hasn't been sent yet.

Hi Diane; thanks for the quick reply.

I've tried what you're suggesting, and there are no results (nothing happens).

It is possible that Microsoft removed this functionality; in which case it's
understandable, just too bad. ('Cause I really liked this feature!)

I even tried to go through all the menu options when composing an e-mail
(File, Edit, View etc.) and looked for an action to forward the note, but
didn't find anything.

They probably disabled this feature because of the high number of complaints
over forums, where people were upset that in every other office product, CTRL
+ F would bring the "find" window.

It works just fine here - *as long as the cursor is in the header area*.

Thanks Diane; very informative, helpful & useful!

I've gotta tinker around, see how to make it work on my end here.
