Office 2007 does not search properly

In office 2000 you can type any string and get a list of possible searches.
In my Office 2007 you can't do that. You have to know exactly what your
looking for or what sent. I've checked the indexing with now success. Can
anyone help.

Can you give a bit more concrete description/example of the change in
behavior and how you expect it to work instead?

I am unable to do a search and find a item by typing ANY string of
information and coming up with results. I must know EXACTLY the way it was
typed on the subject line to find anything.
With Outlook 2000 you could type any string and find results.

Example: On Subject line: Jims Warehouse x027886

With 2000 I could type 2788 and find the record.
With 2007 I have to type x02788 to find the record.

I've checked all the indexing and It all seems correct.

Instant Search doesn't provide that search option as it is an indexed query.
To do a non-indexed query you can use Advanced Find and on the Advanced tab
create the query;
Subject contains 2788

Thank you for your clear and complete answer, but, I don't consider myself
shallow but I can't see the advanced tab. Sorry for the weak request but
this last help will make my day. Thanks,
