Office 2007 Enterprise conflict with HP MediaSmart Software

Just purchased new HP laptop running Vista 64 Home Premium Edition. All
original factory installed software works fine until I installed Office 2007
Enterprise Edition. After installation of Office, HP MediaSmart Photo,
Video, and Music Software applications stopped working. Upon launch, (HP)
programs open in new window then freeze with an error stating Program has
stopped working,

Is this a common issue? Are there registry conflicts between the Office and
MediaSmart software packages?

Upon uninstalling Office 2007 full operability was restored to the HP
programs. It doesn't seem the two software packages can coexist on the same
computer. So far HP support can offer no solution. I was told that HP
software developers would have to work with Microsoft to resolve the problem
with no timeframe for feedback/resolution.

I am inclined to uninstall the HP Applications in favor of the Microsoft
Applications until a solution if offered. Any suggestions?

Its not uncommon for preinstalled 'free software' to cause problems,
particularly anything related to dvd / media, sometimes stopping any auto
run entries for this software resolves the issue (ie stopping them from auto
starting)
Maybe try initially using msconfig (I believe Vista still features this) to
stop all startup entries, then retest, if the issue is resoved then its a
question of reenabling a batch at a time untill you find what causes the
problem.
I cannot believe that HP has not come across this problem before, is there
not an HP forum where this has been discussed, or no FAQ's on HP site?

Seems to be a new or isolated problem. The only similar references I have
found on HP site include the below.

Strange Incompatability Issue (from HP Customer Support Forum)

I have a HDX18t and it is absolutely wonderful. I recently installed
Microsoft Office 2007 and now all my touch buttons (media smart, volume,
etc...) are acting as shortcuts for Microsoft Excel. I really like the
buttons to control the speakers but aI m having to use the remote control to
control sound. Please help. Thanks

Having the same issue. HP Tech indicated it was a known issue, but didn't
know if HP was working on it...or leaving it up to MS to fix. This makes
the nice HP feature a bit annoying, and useless. If this was known issue
conflict with common s/w why would product be released - equates to bad
design, or bad planning !?. Haven't found any info or fixes on this yet.
Shouldn't HP be doing this?

I have a HDX-16T Series laptop running Vista 64 Premium. I have notfied HP
support that upon installation of Office 2007 Enterprise Edition, HP
MediaSmart Photo, Video, and Music no longer work. Upon launching these
MediaSmart applications, the programs open then freeze with an error stating
Program Not Working.

So far no resolution for this incompatiblity. Has anyone else experienced
similar issues after installing Office 2007? The only resolution I have
found so far is to uninstall Office 2007 which restores normal functionality
to MediaSmart. This resolution is unacceptable since I am user MS Word &
Excel on a daily basis.
