Office 2007 Enterprise Edition (Student Purchase)

Padraigglynn

Hi I am a 3rd level student. I purchased Office Enterprise Edition 2007 under
student licence. I got a new laptop and it is running windows vista home
premium. When I try to load my office 2007 enterprise edition i keep getting
the error message saying a file is corrupted or missing. The disk is the one
microsoft sent me out. The disk loads fine on a windows XP machine. I have
logged in as hidden administrator to see would this make a difference but to
no avail. I contacted the site where I purchased the product but they tell me
they only are a reseller for microsoft and do not support products. On
looking at the support page of office they will charge me €500 + for a
support call (Not a viable option). If someone could direct me to where I
could get help I would be very grateful......

May I ask from where (post link) did you purchase this version of the Office Enterprise from. I would very much like to take a look at this site which you have described.

Thanks for the prompt reply peter the website from where I purchased the
software is www.software4students.ie

Any advice on how I might be able to get the office running. I am back to
college tomorrow and really do with it. Thanks for your time and help

LOL. From the prices alone I can tell you that this is a bogus site probably selling pirated versions of software.

Afraid you are stuck.. From a retail price of 659 pounds to a selling price of under 100 pounds you think you are getting a legal version with a legal key. I doubt very much.

Tale a hard look again on that site and especially the prices that is sold by.

Be careful next time.

Thanks Peter for your reply. In response to your suggestion. On purchasing
the product i had to contact microsoft ireland direct for activiation of the
product. To verify my details I had to get a letter from my university etc.
Also, I registered the product with microsoft with all my details, etc. no
one contacted me to say it was not legitimate. The problem i am having seems
very common and has appeared on many threads within the site but
unfortunately no one seems to be able to solve the problem..........

The disk works perfectly on XP but will not load on Vista........ Any help
as always greatly appreciated....

Peter - you ARE aware that academic pricing is usually anywhere from 10% - 25% of retail prices, right? And I would think that the City of Dublin would have noticed that their name was being used by a fictitious reseller, right? And, you checked the Microsoft Educational Resellers page, right?

MS usually supplies free support for installation isues, and, 3(?) number
of free support requests in the first 30 days(?), at least they used to in
the UK

Milly

No I have not checked it. I will check it now. Have you seen that page and the pricing of all the other software's. Also no support to purchaser. The purchaser is left to fend for themselves.

Seems a bit odd. I will check more in detail and get back here on the issue

Thanks Milly

Not a problem Peter, just a reminder that sometimes, allbeit rarely, things are NOT too good to be true - especially when dealing with academic packages.

Oh, to have been a student when these prices were offerred!!!

When I placed the Office 2007 Enterprise DVD in the drive and allowed the
auto start to happen, I got a splash screen saying that office install is
preparing the necessary files and then got an error that stated;
“Setup can not continue because a required file is either corrupt or not
available...Re run from the original media or download locationâ€
I was using the original Microsoft DVD, I tried again but no success.
Searched the internet and discovered that a lot of people have had this or
similar problem.

Phoned Microsoft tech support and they were very helpful and this was the
solution. Worked first time.

Click Start
In the little window at the bottom that has the words “Start Searchâ€, type
msconfig & Press enter
In MS Config,
Under the “General†Tab,
Click the “Selective Startup†Radio button.
This should make two check boxes available to be changed.
Leave the “Load SystemServices†Check box checked.
Then clear “Load StartUp Items†checkbox.
Now select the “Services†Tab
Click the “Hide All Microsoft Services†Check box at the bottom left.
Click the “Disable all†button at the bottom right.
Click “Applyâ€
Click “OKâ€
Observe the message that pops up titled “System Configurationâ€
"You may need to restart your computer to apply these changes....."
Click the “Restart†Button.

Computer Restarts

Put the Office DVD in the drive.
Do the install including entering the product key.

After Office 2007 has been installed
Click Start
Enter msconfig and press Enter.
In the “General†tab, click the “Normal Startup†radio button.
Click “Applyâ€
Click “OKâ€
Observe the message that pops up titled “System Configurationâ€
You may need to restart your computer to apply these changes.....
Click the “Restart†Button.
Computer Restarts
This was so easy in the end, but frustrating until I found out the above!
