yes i believe you can....i think it has a 3 computer license....i'm wondering
if i put it on my computer and then have to format my computer for some
reason, would it cost me another use of my 3 uses to install it again on the
same computer?

Yes, subject to the limitation that, "The software is not licensed for
use in any commercial, non-profit, or revenue-generating business
activities."

thanks for your help.

when my harddrive crashed at work, and it had to be replaced, i reinstalled
my office 2003 small business with no problems and it only has 1 license.
Not sure if that helps.

Yes, I was wondering the same. I bought the 3 systems version of H&S and we
have two computers in our house. However, my computer crashed and the guy
said that he had to "blow out the system and install a whole new vista
system" on my computer and I was wondering if Home and Student will still
work or will it use up the third installment?

Hi hdg18,

At worst, it'll mean that when it comes time to install the app on the 3rd system, you'll have to use phone activation.

Ok Thanks! I'm glad that it will still work. So it can be reinstalled on the
SAME computer how ever many times you need to, but it can't be put on 4
computers?? That's good!

What is Microsoft's definition of "commercial usage"? Does that include even
incidental commercial usage, such as primarily personal usage, but composing
a book or occasionally editing a document that you brought home from work?

I bought a copy of Home and Student last night. I haven't opened it because
I saw the commerical usage statement on it. I contacted Microsoft Support
today. They refered me back to Best Buy. Best Buy refered me back to
Microsoft.

If you are composing a book for publication, I wouldn't consider that
"incidental", and the "occasionally editing a document that you brought
home from work", well are you planning on using it for that? If so, it
sure sounds like you were/are "planning" on using it for commercial
purposes.

If neither MSFT nor Best Buy can give you an answer, you can take this two
ways.

1) They won't say no.
2) They won't say yes.
