Office 2007 Home and Student

I am considering the purchase of Office 2007 Home and Student. I would like
to install it on my Toshiba laptop which is a year old and did not come with
an "office-type" software suite; it only has Works and One Note. If I
purchase the software mentioned above, is it an upgrade only requiring that I
have all the earlier versions of the programs installed? The software suite I
am referring to retails for $129 to $149.
