After having installed Office 2007 Home And Student, I keep getting a request
(on trying to open attachements, and on certain Web sites) for me to install
Microsoft 2000 SR1 from the disc (error message 1706)

Hello Douglas,

You shouldn't get any messages referencing Office 2000 unless there are
still pieces of it installed.

Is that possible?

If you download the windows installer cleanup utility from the link below,
install and run it do you find Office 2000 on the list? If so can you
highlight it and click remove? If it was listed and you removed it that
should fix your issue.
