Office 2007 icons TOO large

My ribbon is taking up so much room because the icons are way too large. For
some reason the icons in my Office 2007 (Word & Excel) on my Windows Vista
laptop are much larger than those same icons on my friend's ribbon in her
Window's Vista laptop. My DPI is set at 96 ... I can't figure out how to make
the icons smaller ... any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

I think your friend's laptop display is set to a higher resolution than your
monitor, try setting your monitor's resolution to the maufacturer's
recommended resolution.

PS: You can also minimize the ribbon :)

I was dealing with this issue on Windows XP and found that changing my
theme fixed the issue.

I was on the default XP theme. Switched to the classic theme and the
icons became smaller (in the start menu as well). I was then able to
switch back to the XP theme and the icons stayed smaller.

Not sure what causes this, but that is how I fixed it.
