Office 2007 Install Crashes

T

Tom Z

I am having problems installing Office 2007 Professional Plus on several of
our PCs. When I run the setup.exe the splash screen appears for a coule of
seconds and then disappears. I then get a box asking if I want to send a
report to Microsoft.

I have tried installing the windows Installer 3.1 which did not help. Event
Viewer shows an error Event ID 5000 and mentions a msiapicallfailure.

I have also tried copying the files from the CD onto the hard drive and
running the install that way. No luck. It installs on some PCs without any
problems so I know my CD is fine.

All of these had Office 2003 installed previously and I first uninstall that
version. I even tried the msi utility to clean the installation files and
that did not work.
I can reinstall Office 2003 back on with no problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi and thanks for the response.

I had already tried that as I stated in my original post. Tomorrow morning
I have an appointment with a Microsoft Office Deployment Engineer and he is
going to help figure out the problem with this. If we get the answer I willl
post it here.
