Office 2007 Installation Error 2203

D

desmax

I'm getting an installation Error 2203 when attempting to install Office 2007
onto my system running Vista Home Premium. From what I've found on the
internet, this is often associated with folder acess / permission problems.
When I check the properties of the folders, all appears to be ok. My Vista
account is set for Admin.

Appreciate any help / suggestions on this.

Desmax,

Your account may be Admin but is the folder set for Full Acontrol? Also,
are you running an Anti-Virus program that might be 'protecting' you from
installing?

Also... Madt M had a similar problem and posted this which worked for him...

1. Scheduled and ran Error-checking on my harddisk
2. Copied the entire CD to a folder on the desktop and ran install from
there.

Gina:

Folder Ownership seems to have been the issue. The Parent Folder that
Office 2007 was using for install was owned by SYSTEM instetad of me (w/ full
admin rights). Changing owenership of the parent and all sub folders to my
username resolved the problem.

Any ideas on why the folder was owned by SYSTEM?

thx - desmax

Desmax,

I wish I could explain the ways of Vista. All I know is the one computer in
here that has Vista (with garlic hanging over it) gave me a problem when I
tried to install Office 2007 on it which I why it was my first choice of
things to check. Glad it is now resolved!

At least I have found out this much! My IT person said to uninstall and
reinstall Office 2007 to fix the email icon not showing up to add email
accounts. Now I get this error and am in deep weeds for my meetings tomorrow.

How do I find this folder to check "ownership"of it? I've search my system
to try to figure it out, to no avail! Can anyone help?

I am so sorry I went with Vista..if I could only turn back the decision ;-(
