Do I uninstall my Office 2003 before Installing Office Enterprise 2007? Will
my files in My Documents be affected by the installation? Or are they safe?

So I can uninstall Office 2003 and all of my data will be there when I try to
open documents after installing 2007...correct?

my files in My Documents be affected by the installation? Or are they
yes

office will never erase personal files and documents

However it seems to me that you have not backuped your data to an
alternative location such as a dvd disk or external hard disk!

This is very dangerous since hard disks do fail! I have many clients who cry
after their hard drives died because no one told them to backup!

Also have in mind that the new word 2007 saves in format docx and the older
format doc too

if you try to open a docx file in word2003 it will not open

so its best to "save as" and select .doc format so you can open all files in
both versions of word

the same thing applies to excel xlsx and xls

and powerpoint

to send files to others its best to save as doc since they may have older
versions of word than word2007

Thanks for your help. I do have a backup on DVD (just in case). Thanks for
adding the additional information, I use 2007 at work and have gotten into
the habit of saving everything down for those who may not have 2007.....
If there's nothing else I need to do except uninstall the program & re-boot
my computer than I guess I'm all set.
Thanks again!!

Office Enterprise 2007? Yes you do need to uninstall everything of Office 2003.
Enterprise Editions need to be installed alone and not used as an Upgrade.
Your files that were created with Office 2003 will not be removed but it is prudent
to save them. Once the Enterprise version of Office is installed you will need to
place them in their appropriate locations. Do not import these files since it can
cause corruption among other issues. This goes for all files from *.doc to *.pst
For help with the Office 2007 Enterprise you will need to contact either Microsoft
or the IT department from where you bought it through the Home Program.
Enterprise issues are not helped here in the newsgroups since this version is not
available to the public at large.

The support for Office 2007 Enterprise is free and look and open
