I would like to express my regret at Microsoft's rather presumptuous decision
no longer to allow users to select not to have the MSOCache folder remain on
there system post installation (and indeed to set Office 2007 so that it will
abort install - apparently - if there is insufficient disk space for the full
installation plus MSOCache files)! Whilst I accept that the MSOCache
deployment is useful for network administrators and site wide installations
but, for individual users, it ofers no benefit and simply doubles again the
size required for the Office installation. Surely users should be given the
option (at least when installing direct from CD) whether they wish to create
and use the MSOCache. Personally, given the cache on my machine is the same
size as the CD, I ould rather choose not to have it permanently sit on my
hard disk!
