office 2007 on vista hangs because of spoolserver

Hi
I'm running office 2007 on a vista machine and have the folowing problem:
When I start any of the office programs the machine hangs because the
printer spoolserver is using a lot of processor power. This problem only
occurs in office programs, and the printer works fine. And I can print, but
it takes a lot of time. The diagnostics can't find the problem.
Please help me.
Is there any way I can "reset" the spoolserver or the information office
sends to it? The installation worked fine for a long time after installation.
Any ideas?

I don't know if all the apps have this, but I know PPT does -- in Office
Button | PPT Options | Resources, there's a setting for print "high
quality." Unchecking that may help the slow printing. Also, unchecking
"background printing" in that same area isn't a bad idea.

Is your printer driver Vista-certified and up to date? And is the driver
local to the computer, or is it on a network?

The problem was caused by the printer driver. It was working earlier so I
don't know what caused the problem. Maybe a update that made the old driver
uncompatible?

The printer is a OKI C3200n on the USB port and I had some problems updating
the driver. The solution was to uninstall the current driver AND REBOOT THE
PC. when I reconnected the printer the system installed it like it was a new
printer whith the new driver.

Thanks Echo S for directing me to the source of the problem.
To all others reading this post and having similar problems check for
updated drivers AND REBOOT THE PC after uninstalling the old.
