Office 2007 Professional vs. Home

Craig Schiller

Hi all -

I already have Outlook 2007, but now I want to get more of the suite. If
I buy the Home edition rather than the Professional version, will I miss
out on any Outlook functionality? What else might I miss?

TIA,
Craig

Yes, themes will not work in Outlook and some people have reported that mail merges and other automation functions are crippled.

Hi Milly -

Thanks for the response. I want to make sure I understand your message.
You're saying that if I don't get the Professional version (and thus
duplicate my purchase of Outlook), Word's mail merge function may not
work? And what other "automation functions" are you referring to?

Thanks for your help!

Other automation functions such as mail merges, send to from Office programs, availability of Outlook's Address Book in Word. themes, etc.

What do you need in the pro version that Standard or SBE does not offer? Do you really need Access? Where did you get your copy of Outlook 2007? PDA?

Hi Milly -

Well, that's exactly my question. I don't know if I need anything in
professional that's not in SBE or Standard. I don't need Access for sure.

Personally, I don't use either Outlook or Word --- this is for my wife.
So I don't want to get the wrong version if that's going to reduce her
productivity in any way.

Outlook 2007 was purchased as a standalone through Amazon.

Thanks for your help.

Then you might want to have a look at this site to compare the various offerings:

It is nice to know what is out there and they make it pretty easy to see what you can get. Glad it helped.
