Office 2007 Professional will not install

I purchased Office Professional 2007 on CD and installed it on my laptop,
running on Windows XP Professional, without any problem. All attempts to
install on my desktop, running on Windows XP Home, have failed.
Event Viewer tells me all the components get installed then an error message
shows reading, "Product: Microsoft Office Professional 2007 -- Installation
operation failed."
The link to MS Help & Support Centre message says, "We're sorry, No
additional information in the Error & Event Log ......etc.
What can I do to make it install and stay installed and functional?
Can this veersion be installed on more than one computer? (I think most MS
stuff can be installed on a personal laptop and a desktop.)

Hi Ken,

Are you logged in as the Owner account in Windows XP home when installing?

Have you shut down all other running software, utilities/antivirus when running Office 2007 setup?

If you copy the CD to a folder on your hard drive can you run setup?

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your response.
Afirmative to each of your suggestions - no joy.
I omitted to mention that Event Viewer tells me that after the error message
comes up the whole damned program proceeds to uninstall itself.
So, the installation works but triggers an error message which triggers
uninstall.

I had the same challenge until I found a link to a page that described the
problem and the solution (I don't have the link now) but the gist is you have to
uninstall all 2007 beta components which includes the 2007 compatibility addin
to 2003. Once I had done that it all worked for me.

Lionel,
Thanks for your response.
Unfortunately, I did not have the beta version on my desktop.
I did have it on my laptop but uninstalled it before installing Office 2007
without any problems.
