I have been using Microsoft Office Document Scanning for very long
time both previously under XP and now under Vista - without a single
problem.

I went ahead and applied Office 2007 Service Pack 1 few days ago and
since the moment the update was applied every time I scan a document
using Microsoft Office Document Scanning and automatic OCR is enabled
the application throws an error:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: MSPOCRDC.EXE
Application Version: 12.0.4518.1014
Application Timestamp: 45417579
Fault Module Name: kernel32.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386
Fault Module Timestamp: 4549bd80
Exception Code: e0000002
Exception Offset: 0001b09e
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 4105

Additional information about the problem:
LCID: 1033

skulcid: 1033

When I turn OFF automatic OCR this error does not come up. Anyone has
experience the same thing?

Mine seems to be working OK. I don't use it that often, I scanned one page
and it auto OCR just fine

I got the same problem after installing Office 2007 SP1 using tw
different scanners. Scanning without sheet feeder or scanning only on
page with the sheet feeder is no problem. The problem comes afte
sanning the second or third page. Resetting the printer is required.

Any help is very welcome

I found this bug on the Microsoft support pages. It is a "known issue
with number 943087.
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943087/

WORKAROUND (copied from Microsoft pages):
To work around this problem, use another scanner application. Fo
example, you can use the scanner software that was included with th
scanner. If you are using Windows Vista Business or Windows Vist
Ultimate, you can use the "Windows Fax and Scan" tool

Another workaround: turn off OCR in the preset options of Microsof
Document Scanning. For me it worked. OCR can be done afterwards i
Microsoft Document Imaging
